
SHONO CHIBA, Fascial Stretch Therapist
Originally from Japan, Shono worked as a stretch therapist for 8 years, providing treatments to nearly 1,000 clients annually. He specializes in hands-on stretching and movement-focused treatment designed to help people move better, reduce tension, recover faster, and feel stronger in their everyday lives. His approach goes beyond temporary relief. By improving mobility, addressing movement limitations, and helping clients better understand their bodies, Shono aims to improve not only physical condition, but overall quality of life. As someone who loves sports and staying active, he also provides sport-specific approaches tailored to each client’s goals, recovery, and performance needs. Shono has experience working with a wide range of clients — from elementary school students to people in their 80s, including office workers, active individuals, and fitness enthusiasts. AMRIT GILL, Physiotherapist
Amrit believes in clear diagnosis, efficient treatment, and helping people get better as quickly as possible—the PhysioGURU way. Using targeted exercise, manual therapy, and education, she provides practical tools to create long-term solutions and help patients return to work, sport, and daily life with confidence. Amrit was first introduced to PhysioGURU as a patient while she was a physiotherapy student and was drawn to the focused, effective approach to care. She went on to train under Ryan for years, developing strong assessment skills and clinical reasoning to address the root cause of pain and injury. Outside the clinic, Amrit is training for the BMO HalfMarathon, enjoys hiking and camping, and exploring new coffee spots. She offers physiotherapy services in both English and Punjabi.

RYAN WANAGURU, Physiotherapist & Owner
Ryan Wanaguru graduated from the University of Sydney in 2008 with a degree in Physiotherapy. He openedPhysioGURU in 2019 as a place where people receive the care they come for. Ryan treats his clients with respect, focuses on fixing the root cause of issues, and wants them to get on with their lives. He hires clinicians who share thePhysioGURU way: honest, hardworking, and committed to fixing people’s problems for good. Ryan was certified in dry needling/IMS in 2017. Outside the clinic,Ryan has a strong passion for endurance challenges. He ran the BMO VancouverMarathons in 2013, 2020, 2021, and 2025; cycled solo from London to Paris in2011 and from Marseille to Milan in 2018; and completed 12 Grouse Grinds in one day in 2023. In 2025, he ran the Knee Knacker race. His 2026 goals are to reach 14.1 on the beep test and break the world record for most golf holes played in 12 hours (current record: 242).

MATTHEW JOHNSTON, Registered Massage Therapist
Matthew Johnston is a Registered Massage Therapist and an honors graduate of Georgian College’s 3-year Massage Therapy program (2018). His training includes therapeutic and wellness massage, myofascial release, deep tissue, hydrotherapy, low-grade joint mobilizations, Swedish massage techniques, and remedial exercise. Matthew is a visually impaired practitioner who is blind. After significant vision loss, he pursued Massage Therapy as a new career. His visual impairment has contributed to a refined sense of touch and strong
listening skills, supporting precise palpation and close attention to tissue response during treatment. His approach is client-centered and clinically grounded, with treatments customized based on clinical assessment, current evidence, and client feedback.

Erin is a graduate of West Coast College of Massage Therapy and has a Bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology from the University of British Columbia. Erin is committed to providing a safe and inclusive environment for clients to relax, heal and reconnect with their own bodies. Erin aims to provide therapeutic treatments with compassion and a focus on clients personal health and wellness goals. Outside of the clinic Erin enjoys an active lifestyle and a passion for the outdoors and is an avid skier, runner and yoga practitioner. NEILL KLEINVELDT, Registered Massage Therapist
Neill graduated from the Vancouver Career College RMT program in 2022 and is in good standing with the CMTBC. He worked as an RMT in Quebec for over 10 years and is now registered in British Columbia. His approach is client-centred, customizing each treatment to meet the needs and goals of every patient. With his experience and training, Neill recognizes the importance of treating the body as a whole. To achieve optimal results, he uses a variety of techniques including myofascial release, joint mobilization, and deep tissue therapy when appropriate. He also incorporates stretching, patient education, and home programs to help support recovery. Neill enjoys treating active individuals, post-surgical patients, those recovering from injury, and people experiencing pain with daily activities. He has been involved in competitive sport since childhood and currently runs marathons while preparing for his first Ironman competition.

MELINDA FREITAS, Counsellor MACP, RCC
Melinda approaches both her work and personal life from a holistic, whole-system perspective, recognizing the importance of background, personality, lived experience, interests, strengths, family dynamics, work, and spiritual or existential factors in each person’s journey. Her therapeutic approach is client-focused and solution-oriented, drawing from evidence-based modalities including Mindfulness-CBT, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), FamilySystems, and Solution-Focused Brief Therapy. Melinda works with individuals aged 19+ and in allyship with LGBTQ2S+ and BIPOC communities, and she is San’yas Indigenous Cultural Safety (ICS) trained. She specializes in supporting clients through life transitions such as divorce, grief and loss, and career or health changes, as well as chronic anxiety and depression, stress management, and relationship concerns. Outside of work, Melinda enjoys exploring the city,playing tennis, cycling, practicing yoga, and getting creative in the kitchenthrough baking and cooking.
